In the land of dirt and boredom.

Yes, the land of dirt and boredom. Ozzerwize known as the middle of nowhere, Arizona. Currently I am waiting for this hunk of junk to load a video form iTunes. Slow mechanics. Me and my friend Ryan have been getting through this break together, texting pretty much nonstop since midnight on New Years. Oh, by the way….
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it’s already 2009? Wow.
I watched lotsa ‘I Love Lucy’ and ‘Twilight Zome’ since the break started. Ugh. I gotsta go back to school on Tuesday. I hate public schooling. It’s so boring! At least I have Alice. You see, me and Alice are both in Annie together, and English class. I am currently listening to mucho Taylor Swift music. I’m picking up on a lot of Spanish, because I live about 3 1/2 hours from the border.
I really havent gotten to do much at all this break, aside from Christmas, and all. I sang in church, which was much fun. I got the crowd jumpin up and down, and my friend Ryan (for he runns sound, lights, and pretty much anything you can think of…) put on a real cool thing, with smoke, strobe lights, and prettifull lights. It was amazing!
I am getting better at songwriting. Maybe someday I shall post one of them on MTLGT. But not today. For today, I need to clean. More. Fun. I redesigned my room, got a new bed, and pretty much I had to clean out my room twice yesterday. I’m gonna go, for I am very hungry. I wonder if there’s anything good to eat around here….

The Land of Cheese and Pasta

What is the land of cheese and pasta, you say? Why, you fools: it’s Italia. The land of Italians. Like really. Everyone there eats Italian food in large portions, speaks Italian (no way…O_O), and then just are Italian. I felt so left out. Their language is just so cool! Though I do enjoy French better. But still. And, us being the bumbling tourists we were, could not ask the locals what were the good restaurants, and relied on our eyes to find food. Which meant that whenever we saw the word “pizza” or “chinese”, we immediately flocked.

Of course, there was various sightseeing. We got to see Pompei, the Colosseum, various churches, the Vatican, and various other stuff. Let us make the endeavor.

Yes, the Vatican was quite lovely. It’s like, just wow. So then on Christmas eve, we went to go see the Pope at midnight, for midnight mass. I was really tired and everything, as was this one kid in front of me, and this one lady behind who kept giving me the evil glare, and this one guy diagonal behind me going, “She didn’t even know what balsamic vinegar is! So I had to make the dressing myself!”

We waited in St. Peter’s for 2 hours before the mass actually started at 12. So we were there at 9, and we entered the church at 10. I amused myself by watching all of the cardinals and pretending I knew their names, and that I voted on “that one” during my class’ papal election.

And then, all of a sudden, the Pope appeared. At my seat, I couldn’t see anything. All of these lights on the ceiling suddenly came on, and all of a sudden, it look like broad day. At midnight. So he came in with what is called a bang. Not an exploding whale bang. A papal bang. And he did a papal dance with this incense thing before sitting down on this golden throne.

Then he spoke. In Latin.

So I couldn’t understand anything. And the entire mass was in Italian or something, so yeah. I should’ve brought my computer there to translate.

Okay, moving on. On our arrival, because the airline, Alitalia, was on strike, our luggage never made it to Rome. It got stuck somewhere else in Europe, leaving us with minimal clothing and a euro budget. Everything is so expensive in Europe, so we were all panicking, going all, “How am I going to live for a week with three thin shirts and two pairs of pants when the weather is freezing outside?”

And you know what? That stupid airline didn’t even care. Because they were striking.

So we did what any sane person would do. We washed all of our underwear and then hung it on the chandelier in our room to get it to dry.
